This is photograph of the American side of Niagara Falls, taken from the Canadian side. I was actually very taken back by the force of the Falls....

I had only ever been to Niagara Falls as a young child so I didn't remember much of it, until my Husband and I stayed down there for our Honeymoon. It's really a beautiful place, we should visit more often since it's such a spectacular natural beauty that's relatively close. I was actually very taken back by the force of the Falls, Even when your hundreds of feet away you can feel the power in the ground. It's like a constant thunder; throughout the day and night, all those millions of litres of water.

I know the main attraction are the Horseshoe Falls but the American Falls look just as nice in practically any weather. In order for anyone to get a good shot at the Canadian Falls it has to be just perfect conditions so there's more than just mist. There's always so many more people down at that end of the boardwalk; where I was, I was undisturbed and able to get excellent shots. I see more beauty in the American Falls anyways, not that the Horseshoe isn't a geographical marvel. I just love the rocks at the bottom, and the way the water sometimes gets separated halfway down the face. I've seen a picture from the 1960's of when they had to "turn off" the American falls for preservations sake and it's just changed my whole view of them. Did you know the water is such a beautiful green colour because of the erosive force on the rocks and the minerals within it.
